The whiskey was then aged for twelve months in a Pedro Ximenez (PX) sherry barrel which was imported from Jerez, Spain where all Sherry is created. Of all sherries, the Pedro Ximenez has the most unique flavors, adding raisin, apricot and dried fruit aromas to the bouquet. On the palate, the sherry barrel adds a nuttiness that integrates well with the traditional vanilla, caramel, and spice flavors. It has a long smooth finish that leaves the raisin flavors lingering.
